083 – To Save the Softening

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Ok I’ve finally finished processing all the photos I shot on Sunday of the Reshaping Fashion’ fashion show in Kitchener. More on that in a later post. Now to catch up on 365.

First thing I did when I got into Waterloo was make banana bread with Koda. Well, really, I only mashed the bananas.

Went to St. Lawrence Market with Farran and Rachel with the sole purpose of eating peameal bacon on a bun. We ended up walking around and got inspired by the fresh produce. So we purchased some items and went back to my place to cook. Pictured above is only a part of what we had: garlic baguette with baked brie, roasted garlic and roasted red peppers; steamed acorn squash topped with salt, pepper and cheese; fresh pasta with italian sausage tomato sauce.

072/365 Coffee Molasses

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Lunchbox Madness. Decided to try a new recipe. My rendition of pork medallions with a coffee molasses glaze. It was a pleasing, comforting taste. The glaze reduced well on the stove. Carrots and turnips from the weekly produce box.

Good news: the weather is warming up quickly in Toronto. Bad news: the ground is not frozen anymore and rain seeps down and into our living room/kitchen. Landlord says he’ll get someone in to fix it, but it’s been a week now and nothing’s happened. Yes, we had to clear everything from theĀ centerĀ of the space because the water tends to pool there every time it rains. Yes, there is a tupperware full of vegetables cooling in the foreground of the picture. Yes, there is a organics garbage bag sitting on the floor waiting to be taken out. Yes, I have many pairs of shoes. YES, WE HAVE TONNES OF BANANAS ON THE KITCHEN TABLE.

I’ve been rewatching Friends (on 7th season now) to get the whole story. Have you ever noticed how they always have time before work to go to Monica’s apartment to have breakfast? I always thought, “How do they have the time?” Well, one morning before work, I went over to Cristina’s house and made pancakes for breakfast. No particular reason, just felt like it.
